Art Team Meeting in Memorial Park in Riverside at 5 pm Friday, 10/21

Attention: Any of the 99%, with an affinity and/or penchant for art, music, drum circles, organized yoga, dance, etc.

The park is where Riverside Avenue meets the St. Johns River. Near the Cummer. Bring a picnic dinner, if you like. Sunset will probably be beautiful, unless it rains hard. Check back Friday to see if the weather permits our outdoor meeting. Insect repellant may be a good idea at sundown.

I'm Debbie Rhoden, and I want to help coordinate the culture aspects of our community. I have a full-time job but am flexible. There were many great ideas. More bodies, more ideas, more effective.

So far, we know we need:

1. Musicians (that includes drummers) - Most times amplification will not be available. We do plan to feature a stage area. Please become an Art Team member.
2. Used or Cheap Light-Colored T-Shirts - Two people have volunteered screen printing equipment. Some are collecting old t-shirts to re-purpose. Contact me to pick up any t-shirts you want to donate. Any Used and previously imprinted, NO holes are great. You do NOT have to be an Art Team member to donate.
3. Screen Printing Equipment - Two people have volunteered screen printing equipment. Hopefully, we get a bunch of shirts and we'll need the help. Please become an Art Team member.
4. Slogans - You are too lazy to use yourself but would like to see in a picture of in the history books. Submit any brilliant slogan or sign ideas to us via this forum (Art Team). Again, you do NOT have to a member of the Art Team to submit.
5. Yoga enthusiasts and massage therapists - We want to provide an specific area for massage, meditation, yoga, soft music, etc. This has become an important part of the occupation where it is being used.
6. Dance or any cultural demonstrations - A member of your group should become an Art Team member.
7. Art Team Members - Who can serve on more than one team to ensure continuity and solidarity.
8. Supplies for Signs - Contact me, someone will pick it up.
9. Song Writers and Poets - This movement will be remembered by the art that will last. A freedom song for this revolution could come out of you. Get busy keep it focus and NOT divisive. We need a few that are easy for large groups to learn and sing, like Woody, Seeger, Dylan and PP&M did for the last attempt this revolution. (Sorry, we petered out. When we were out of the "police action" in Vietnam, we didn't keep asking questions).
10. Sheltered meeting area for a rainy alternative.
11. Someone mentioned they could help print out banners. Post on Art Team.

I could sit here for hours and remember more of the suggestions I heard today. Please post them on the Art Team section of this forum.

Hi Debbie, I am Candace, met you last Saturday in the Art group. Can we bring t-shirts to you on Saturday at the Occupy Jax at Riverside? I live in Fernandina and cannot make Friday at 5pm. I really need to say that this forum is not being used by enough people and I would like to humbly suggest that we broaden the visibility to Facebook like some of the other groups. Otherwise we just cannot communicate with everyone who wanted to participate. We all signed a list and gave our emails and that is another way to communicate with everyone and maybe tell them about this forum. I kept trying to find the Art Group on the Occupy Jacksonville on FB and just now found this forum. Just a suggestion...peace

I don't get off of work until 5:30pm and then I need to pick up my son, so it will be close to 6pm before I can be there. Do you think the meeting will still be going on or is it not worth it to lug us over there (since it may be over by then, or close to)?

ACK! My boss needs me to stay late, and I have to because my baby was really sick earlier this week and I missed a day and a half. I need this time to be able to make rent (barely!) next week. ARGGGGGHHH. This crap is why Occupy Jax is in existence. I really want to be a part of this thing!

Don't forget there is one saturday as well, and this isn't going away, there will be many meetings!

Where is the one on Saturday? And what time? And what should I bring if I can make it?

Sorry I couldn't make it today. Will be there Saturday with 10 white blank t-shirts. Could someone from the art group please let us know what was discussed?

that is the FB post about it. Mainly bring yourself, a sign if you like, and what ever you need for the time you attend. Parking is tight, make sure you don't park where prohibited. Last I heard they were going to walk up to the arts thing and mill about there for a bit.

C'mon, man, check out the Occupy Jacksonville Art Team Meeting FB event page or the forum calendar (I think Geno put it on there). We met in Memorial Park at the WWI Memorial Park (that has no water???) today at 5.

Sorry I missed the meeting friday and the rally sat. I am down with a kickass head cold right now. I was able to get enough drugs in me to get up and go do an art show last night but was out of it during the day.
