PRE 10/15 GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO DISCUSS GRIEVANCES/ACTION PLAN!! (SEE ALSO IN EVENTS)
*ALSO POSTED IN EVENTS*
After listening and communicating with team members in OccupyATL and OccupyTallahassee, I believe we should have a general assembly meeting BEFORE we occupy Hemming Plaza again on 10/15. We need to discuss our grievances as a group, create an action plan for a full scale occupation in alignment with Florida and national occupations, and further discuss teams and needs.
PLEASE view the minutes from Occupy Tallahassee's first general assembly. I think it's a good start and motivator to get Jacksonville more organized and involved:
http://occupytallahassee.org/2011/10/09/notes-by-minutes-from-first-general-assembly/
Can we please discuss a time, date, and location?
I am proposing Thursday October 13 at 6:30 to adequately get the word out and accommodate schedules! Let's figure out a spot to meet that has enough capacity!
Thank you for your time, please discuss!

Re: PRE 10/15 GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO DISCUSS GRIEVANCES/ACTION PLAN!! (SEE ALSO IN EVENTS)
I'm unsure we should set another meeting outside the currently scheduled event as many will not be able to attend.
Active participation on the forum should be enough to air grievances directed towards Occupy Jacksonville itself. As for grievances OF Occupy Jax that we wish to commune, I believe we can do that on Saturday. I agree we really got much of nothing done in regards of productivity last time, but it was a phenomenal rally.
A more structured agenda may be in order for the general assemblies, such as getting critical info out and opening up debates on issues such as our grievances. But this is just the start, and most of those who spoke did so very inspirationally. Which is great, but not as productive. We've got a better part of six days before the next GA, so with the help of those on FB and here on the forums, we can figure out how to make it more productive.

What if we create a special website for people who can't make the meetings? This way our democracy will be visual and everyone can participate. Don't we want to be all-inclusive?

For the next meeting:
1. I volunteer to take Minutes and try to make a list of people who would like to do so in the future. That would go a long way in making our meetings transparent and searchable. Do we have a Tumblr or anything to host those? If not, I can make one.
2. We also need to make each group we are forming (media, art, or any we create) has at least a few members and maybe one member at least in each group who will actively try to find more members for that group.
EDIT: I just saw the great minutes posted by Tallahassee. They have a great structure. Let's put together a could outline for stuff we want to talk about, and we can add to it from post to post (and bring up blocks or issues you may have with something someone puts on the agenda).

Re: PRE 10/15 GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO DISCUSS GRIEVANCES/ACTION PLAN!! (SEE ALSO IN EVENTS)
An outline (hate to use the word agenda) and guidelines posted prior to the next GA is essential. Believe it, many attendees don't EVER access the internet. We want ALL people to understand our hand jesters and get used to people using the people's mic. I'm having trouble getting people to believe displaying a flag upside-down is NOT disrespectful to ANYONE! It is important to organize, at least the information. Maybe organize the music like we did the GA. Build a performer stack. Should I be communicating with the Arts team? I understand why any meeting at all may bother people as appearing covert in any way. We should try to leave no room for doubt. It would be perfect if we could meet online at all times. But believe it, many of the attendees don't ever access the net. But we have many people who, with a little direction, can make our next assembly a huge success. Meeting only once a week is a pretty slow moving "movement". I can understand not meeting in a person's home but can a team meet in a public place for a meal. I am struggling to feel connected. I heard there is someone locally printing T-Shirts. Some people want to sell some very clever signs. Now, am I supposed to be posting this somewhere else?

We should meet at the square we started at every single day. We could start with a half hour meeting and build up to an hour and then longer and soon enough we will have different people there all the time and we can show up whenever we want.

Just so everyone knows, parking downtown isn't free on weekdays.

No, we should bring this up Saturday and discuss a times of day for weekdays (even if it just starts with an hour meeting).
We should never add meetings until we can discuss them at a General Assembly.

Being that tomorrow is a worldwide event in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street, are there any plans in the works to march again? The march last weekend was beautiful. An idea for tomorrow; the marchers should slow down a bit so that we can all stay together.

I vote on not having a march. It is a solidarity meeting. I vote we should pick a song appropriate for the moment and seriously all sing it at the top of our voices. Not only would it just be awesome, it would send an awesome message to anyone watching that this is about coming together.
Re: PRE 10/15 GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO DISCUSS GRIEVANCES/ACTION PLAN!! (SEE ALSO IN EVENTS)
Agree with the solidarity meeting, but people across the world are marching in solidarity. We should as well. Not only that but last week, did anyone else see the people who were standing outside of their cars to take pictures of our march? Free Publicity.
