Do you support the Declaration so far? (Agree as it sits, more can be added.)

Do we have anything else we want to add to the Declaration?

Re: The 99% Declaration: Electing a Non-Partisan National General Assembly
I went and joined the declaration forum to contribute and to get more information. It turns out this initiative is independent of the main OWS teams. However, they are in contact with various large Occupy groups and are trying to obtain support of the declaration from respective general assembly's.
It is certainly a great start as a declaration and we should realize it is in a very early draft form. I was very surprised to see declaration call for creation of a political party if listed grievances are not implemented and I thought creating a political party ran counter to goals of OWS. The document doesn't exactly say what the name of the party will be. One is left to assume 99%, which although great for street protests, is not so great as the name of a party.

Re: The 99% Declaration: Electing a Non-Partisan National General Assembly
It is too close to choosing people to have power over us, but it can work with some adjustments to the document. OVERALL I like the idea. It is just a baby and needs to grow up a little.
Mostly this is in regards to keeping people in check and beholden to the people when they join the "National GA". They will simply be going as avatars for the people who can't go. They will only do what we vote on as a WHOLE and make no true decisions without our input.
If this is not ensured, I will leave the group.

From the main website's forum:
I’m working the emails with this group and we are trying to assure the GA this is a BRAINSTORMING Group. This is from our email trail here:
”Propose we make it clear ASAP on the website that this is just a group of people brainstorming no more important then any other group or assembly and everyone is free to join and state their opinion.
It is a fair grievance against this group and the website. Looking at the website it does not explicitly state such things and it is assumed people understand that it is just a random brainstorm session, a dialog,.. not people trying to take credit or take over.
I would even say that a statement should be added to the website such as:
”This website reflects the ongoing efforts of a group of individuals to formulate their collective thoughts and vision in the written word by means of consensus among the group involved in this website. This website does NOT proclaim to represent everyone involved in the Occupy movement, it only represents the people involved in this website.”
We want to assure the GA and OWS that this is not fracturing but brainstorming. We’re desperate to get a conference call going with anyone who will listen but haven’t had any luck as of yet. Keep in mind that we already have multiple other GA’s taking part in this brainstorming and we need to extend that to all GA’s nationally.

Re: The 99% Declaration: Electing a Non-Partisan National General Assembly
i think thats why the national GA isnt till july, its to give us time to find two people who understand the issues and have the best idea of what is good for the people of their district
and to give them time to hear everyone out and rehearse what they want to say, 9 months is alot of time to be sure the right decision is made

Re: The 99% Declaration: Electing a Non-Partisan National General Assembly
I have voted in support of Declaration. It is important to realize although the Declaration is currently in a draft form, the draft is receiving robust discussion for changes by the 99% who choose to do so. Today, I added a new Topic so thoughts could be expressed regarding conclusion of declaration. This is section discussing what constitutional convention will do if grievances are not addressed by the powers that be. With this section available for review, discussion is able to proceed to determine best course of action.
