Some General Information Empty Some General Information

Post by Toad Mon Oct 24, 2011 11:05 am

There was an ambush reporter crawling around Riverside Park yesterday, so I thought it would be a good idea to post some general information in case anyone else is confronted in such a manner.

Representation:
Jacksonville encompasses three congressional districts.
Spoiler:
These are the Congresspeople who represent Jacksonville (from left to right):
Cliff Stearns (R) of Dist. 6
Corrine Brown (D) of Dist. 3
Ander Crenshaw (R) of Dist. 4
Florida's Senators are Bill Nelson (D) and Marco Rubio (R).
Florida's is governed by Governor Rick Scott (R) and Lt. Governor Jennifer Carroll (R).

Taxation:
The top tax rate is 35%.
The top corporate tax rate is also 35%.
Our corporate tax rate is high compared to other countries. (Just in case they ask about it)

Income Disparity
The United States has one of the highest levels income inequality among developed countries according to the CIA World Factbook.
The United States is one of the only developed countries where income inequality has increased since 1980.
As of 2007, the top 1% owned 34.6% of all private wealth and 42.7% of all financial wealth.
As of 2007, the bottom 80% earned only 15% of all private wealth and 7% of all financial wealth.

This post, of course, is open to any suggestions/corrections.
