Just thinking out loud here
Is there some way we could reach out to JSO and JFR? They're both being hit pretty hard, and they really did us a solid today. So, is there some way we could sort of extend an olive branch to them?

I think the best thing you can do is let them know we are on their side, that there is absolutely no reason 50 officers should have been let go last week and we strongly disagree with the layoffs, reassure them that we are a peaceful movement and absolutely no threat to any people or property
i am sure they have all been briefed on who we are and what we are about but i cant think of anything we have that they would want, although passing out coffee and donuts to them next saturday couldnt hurt....

Or bagels. Not all officers enjoy donuts.
On a more serious note, I think that the JSO was tremendously helpful during yesterday's demonstration, and that the quickest way to let them know how much we appreciate them is to call and compliment the officers stationed in our area.
If you feel like it, call up the JSO non-emergency line at 630-0500 to thank them personally for their cooperation and hard work yesterday. Please do let them know how much we appreciate their help with making everything so smoothly and safely!

We need to find a way someone can speak for them at the next assembly. Apparently, on the same day of the first assembly, a group of 75 ex-cops gathered at the landing to protest the lay-offs. They obviously have something to say. Maybe we could convince them to say it at the assembly.

I like this idea a lot. I'll see if anyone in media/out reach is willing to take the lead, else I'll do so myself.

Any ideas on how to reach out to JFR? Luckily we've not needed their services, and I hope never well, at the GA, so a random thank you seems... unprovoked. Though I would never say they don't deserve it! I'm just questioning the awkwardness of receiving random thank you cards from strangers is all.
All for having either JSO or JFR personnel speak, though not in official capacity.

I'm not talking about thanking JFR. Just tell them what we're doing and ask if they'd like to speak abut their pay and pension cuts.
I really doubt they'd speak in an official capacity. They still work for the county, and they'd still be risking their jobs if they did that.

You could also remind them that their pensions were wrapped up in the mortgage securities and the chances are they are already gone.

I've contacted Jacksonville's fraternal order of police. They'll send someone to speak if we can let them know far enough ahead of time. They say this Saturday's too soon for them. But, I've got their contact info, and as soon as we have some kind of schedule in place, I can send it to them. How soon can we get a definite schedule put together?

I think we should schedule them for the Occupation on 10/22. Aren't we planning to meet at least once a week, right?

It's being proposed Saturday, but we have to vote on it first.

They can come Saturday but we will have to vote if we want them to speak or if we want them to come back.
