Tailors needed! Aquire within!

Post by JamesM on Tue Nov 01, 2011 3:11 am

So in attempting to make these activated carbon facemasks, I've found that hot glue guns melt the plastic/paper blend that makes up the mask, and also it burns the crap out of one's fingers. Cold glue just sinks in and makes a mess. Staples work, and should be used, but we can also use sewing to make this work. Anybody good with a needle a thread, Medical needs your help!

Have you tried a low-temp glue gun?

I don't have one of those, and until now I didn't know it was a thing. Enlighten me?

It's a lower temperature hot glue that works well on materials that melt.
I might have one... If not, I will pick one up.

I would discourage staples. Though it's not likely, they're still somewhat sharp and can cause cuts and scratches. This is especially true when your adrenaline's pumping.

PS: I'm so glad to see you guys utilizing the forums! Smile
