@AngelaC - That is an awesome read.

There are a number of authors that I recommend. Daniel Quinn, Alan Watts, Ward Churchill and Howard Zinn are a few to start with.

"Waste: Uncovering the Global Food Scandal" by Tristam Stuart is another eye opening read. It is available at the Jacksonville public library.

Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America by Barbara Ehrenreich

Extensive summary here:
http://www.bookjive.com/wiki/Book:Nickel_and_Dimed:_On_(Not)_Getting_By_in_America

When someone works for less pay than she can live on ... she has made a great sacrifice for you .... The "working poor" ... are in fact the major philanthropists of our society. They neglect their own children so that the children of others will be cared for; they live in substandard housing so that other homes will be shiny and perfect; they endure privation so that inflation will be low and stock prices high. To be a member of the working poor is to be an anonymous donor, a nameless benefactor, to everyone.

People have been asking what to bring, just bring the books/zines/blogs/authors/series/movies, etc to the meeting this Saturday. I will be bringing my laptop and maybe a tiny tv (the disk drive is broken on my laptop) with the Awful Truth series, Naomi Klein book, Howard Zinn and ACLU literature. Please bring others!! We want to open eachother up to different forms of abuse and oppression that made us want to be apart of this movement in the first place.
