Minority solidarity group?

Post by Toaster on Mon Oct 17, 2011 6:48 am

okay so i understand the concept, but i think the point is missed
if you were not born in Africa, you are not an African-American
If you were not born in Mexico, you are not a Mexican-American
if you were not born in China, you are not a Chinese-American
if you are homosexual
if you are straight
if you are poor
if you are rich

if you were born in this country YOU ARE AN -AMERICAN-
this is not 1960
the shade of your tan means shit
you are a Human Being, you are not special, you are not a unique snowflake
you are no more or less than any other Human being

the sooner everyone gets this, the sooner we can start to focus on the ACTUAL issues
thank you

Toaster, this post is kind of the reason why the group needs to exist. As a white straight male (I'm assuming), you've probably never experienced the issues that those who would be in the Minority Solidarity group have. It's not about anyone being better or separating and putting anyone on a pedestal. Clearly, you don't understand this by your posting this on the forum. There are issues in this world that do affect minorities everyday and who are you to say they aren't important? I would hope that you would educate yourself and even come join us and see what it is that we see as important enough that we need our own group. Obviously, it's big enough that we thought to stand up in front of a crowd of 200+ people and speak out about it.
