Folio Weekly Article
Please know that Anne Schindler (Folio Weekly editor) welcomes 1200 word back page articles about our cause. If anyone from Occupy Jax wants to write, send your submission to themail@folioweekly.com . Mark it "back page" submission. We should probably work on it collectively as much as possible so we can represent a variety of views. The more we can get the word out, the bigger impact we can have. Would anyone be interested in something like this?

Re: Folio Weekly Article
Actually, I was talking to a fellow named Max at the GA yesterday who had a plan to write something exactly like this. I will try to get a hold of him to help him create it, then propose it to media for consensus, and then to the entire GA for the same. If we get it passed as an official media piece, we will be sure to submit it.
Thank you very much for this information

Re: Folio Weekly Article
I like the part about innovation in communications...These are amazing times.
Re: Folio Weekly Article
Zach, I like it, but would like to focus on a few other things as well. For example; encourage ppl of other view points to attend and be heard, dispelling the lie that we're all jobless, etc. Also, we have a few people who state they can edit literature, so we should make sure to utilize them!
Would you mind if I sat down and added/modified your document for reproposal?

Re: Folio Weekly Article
Letters to the editor of all the local publications would be effective. Will there be a writer's group? We need to communicate well.

Re: Folio Weekly Article
Also, let's remember that Julie Delegal was present yesterday and will most likely be writing something about us for Folio. I, personally, am thrilled because she's an awesome writer. Don't forget to pick up a Folio on Tues.

@Friendofcash
We do not currently have a writer's group. I think this issue is being addressed by the education group and the media group but if you think it should be it's own group, please suggest that at the next general assembly. Thanks!

I've never shared docs over google, so let me know if the link is a bust.

This is a rough draft made up in about 20 minutes, will go over to fine tooth comb it after work tonight. Thoughts?

Re: Folio Weekly Article
The first part of the article is great! Towards the end, I would suggest taking out the part about "nobama" and point out that we all are for change that we havent seen yet coming out of Washington...the part about responsible corporations is good. Possibly you could talk about how that many of us work hard throughout the week and are dedicating what spare time we have to improve things and make a difference right now....At the end I would suggest removing the word "claim" I suggest that the end be a real call to action...We have to motivate people to attend on Saturday and learn more about us. Overall, solid points and I look forward to seeing the final product!!
Re: Folio Weekly Article
Geo, I think you might be right. May I suggest you take a crack at it? I'm a little busy at the moment, but this is definitely a group effort and I encourage all to participate
I have both copies (original and mine) saved, so feel free to do what you will with either copy posted and re-propose it.

Article Suggestions
The following rough draft are some of the thoughts to consider highlighting.
I suggest that the article use power words to get the thoughts across. Also I think if the article starts with a quote from from the matrix: We know something is not right in this world, it's like a splinter in our mind, what we are being told by our policticans via the media just does not make any sense. We were taught by our educational and religious institutions to be honest, to tell the truth, to keep our word. And as a society, for the most part, we have tried to live up to these ideals. Yet, reality paints a different picture. As an example: We were told we went to war in Iraq because they had weapons of mass destruction and they were planning to use them against us. Lie number one. (need to show more examples, Lie number 2, Lie number 3 etc.)
OWS was started because we don't trust the power elite anymore. The power elite want to know our demands, we say: Screw you, we are not your slaves anymore. We are awakening to the fact that whatever our race, creed, or religious beliefs are we share the same values as human beings, the need to see and speak the truth and to start caring about each other.
